Dear friends of The Fleece Milano,
We have decided to continue our journey on the two wheels to celebrate a unique event whose Italian 2022 edition took place just a few days ago on 22 May: The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a.k.a. the DGR.
For those who hear about it for the first time, the DGR is an amateur motorcycle rally and ride that connects classic and vintage style riders all over the world to raise funds for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
The DGR was founded back in 2012, in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa, who - inspired by a photo of a man riding his classic bike in his finest suit - decided to set up a themed ride among a first group of enthusiasts while raising funds to support men’s health.
The outcome was so successful that, since its inaugural event in Sydney, the DGR has become a global phenomenon involving, to date, over 340,000 classic and vintage riders (men and women without any distinction) across 115 different countries all over the world and, more importantly, raising more than 31.6 million USD for men’s health.
Most of our team members at The Fleece Milano are now regular participants of the DGR events, especially Fabio, who has arguably missed any of the Italian editions. There is no secret to why the DGR has got a special place in our heart: it combines the love we share for classic elegance and vintage bikes with a noble cause.
We bet all our bikers readers are starting to wonder how to join us next year for the 2023 edition. Go on the DGR official website, select your city, register an account, make a donation (even if small, it still makes the difference) and hop on your motorcycle, it is as simple as that.
Very important, don’t forget to dapper up! And that’s exactly why we’re here for. Pair one of our Short Sleeve Sartorial Polos or our Hand-stitched Long Sleeve Polo Shirts with your favorite blazer and you will never go wrong.
“Riding Dapper For A Cause”, that’s what the DGR slogan states and that’s the spirit we embrace year after year when we take part to this very special event.
